Life of a one year old

Well, today my sweet little boy turned 1. He's grown up so fast - gone from a newborn blob to a little boy with personality and a sense of humor. Every day he's discovering new things and working on new skills. I thought today would be a good day to share a little bit about his life. We plan to celebrate his birthday later this week so no pictures of birthday party stuff yet. A lot has happened since our last blog, so I'll be playing catch up for a while. Anyway, I'd like to start with some melt-your-heart photos of Drew. I need to give credit for these photos to my sister Lene, who is developing quite a skill with a camera.

What a handsome boy. The rest of the photos are just snapshots. Developing camera skills is on my list of things to do. Anyway, Drew is a very helpful boy. Here he is helping me make sure I get enough to eat at lunch.

He also helps me organize his clothes:

"Are you sure you want the socks in this drawer mommy?"

He just loves emptying things: his bookshelf, his dresser drawers, mommy's dresser drawers, the movie shelf, his shape-sorter, anything he can get his hands on. If he's lucky, by the time he's done napping, I've put everything away and he can do it all again. Lately, after he empties the drawer, he crawls inside. He just thinks it's so funny.

For those of you with a keen eye, you may notice that Drew is not wearing a diaper in the above pictures. His other favourite thing to do right now is run away from me while I'm trying to change his diaper. It's a game for him. He crawls away, then comes just within arms reach to tease me and when I go to grab him, he crawls away again and gives me the biggest grin.

Drew is a very good eater. I would say his two favourite things to eat are beans and blueberries. For his birthday breakfast, we had french toast and blueberries. Drew eats blueberries so fast, I'm not even sure if he's chewing them. He also likes broccoli, pasta, yogurt, and toast.
Michael and I feel so lucky to have Drew. He is so good-natured and fun to be with. It's so exciting to see him develop a personality and a sense of humor. He's my best little buddy and we love him!

For those that think Drew is cute in pictures, you really should see him in person and in action...he is SUPER CUTE!

And it's true, he really likes to eat foods that other children don't like.

And the diaper changing, really is a fun game.
